We all like compliments..
« on: 02, March , 2010, 07:03:36 AM »
Hello..everybody:-)

I Have noticed that we like to give each other very nice compliments. What i would like to see is a simple 'thank you for your comment' reply...we are spending time looking at your works and should have some credit for that:-)
 Thank you..
Second..we have a lot to show in creativity..we have different tecniques. Thoug, sometimes i think we are a bit too nice:-) meaning..some pictures could have a more interesting composition, light, frame or other..will we be happy to get that information and input from eachother? meaning.. i hope we are open to learn with the goal to improve our work and get better at what we are doing:-)) ?

I would also like infoabout how much of your works really are your own ideas and materials..it is not clear in a lot of workdescriptons:-) ( or perhaps i dont understand those..?;-)))) )

Have a nice day..Tornerose:-)

You do have some good points, i think we cannot make someone say thank you but it would be nice indeed. I am still thinking about how to proceed acctually. There are a few things with this gallery i really do not like, and the support is not all that. But i can only do something about that end of may if we want to have a real nice gallery, or we need a php coder to fix things i don't like. For example what really bothers me is the comment notification. First of all it subscribes me to an image i leave a comment on wich i actually don't like, but more important is the mail that is not complete, someone commented on a pic with the title . but there is no title there. Also the main portal should be finnished soon and then we can think of good ways to implement what you like some way or another. But we can all start by saying thanks for the comment , but how would we go and do that, just by putting a reply on your image or more personal with a private message ?

Hello Mannie
Thank you for your effort..
That is quite a story you have there..my reply: "how to thank for a comment"..simply under in the comments where you get them..under your work..i think i have done that under my own pics..but perhaps that is just your point..that it is not working yet?  ill check it out and get back to you with that..!
Well, it does take time to get a site like this, to work perfect..first of all i think it is more important that you are getting members that keeps it running.
..we are all nice people..and we should know from each other if we are happy with being noticed when we show our work mostly i assume because we wish to share an experience..and i dont think it is that hard to make people respond on a comment:-))...Have a nice day

That works yes. It is just the email notification that i am having problems with. I had tried a few things but no luck :). We need members yes, but they will come when everything is ready, in the meantime there will be a few that join, i'd say invite a few more :) . I will talk with Redstar later when he is available about a plan i had for a gallery switch, end of may that would be cause it aint a free gallery or maybe he knows or know someone that knows how to fix a few things i mentioned

Good point with the comments and very hard to achieve.I was moderator several years on 2 sites and to make people comment or share they knowledge is very hard cose most of the users are on several sites and they don't have time ,most of them just post and run. This is the reason why i like the little communities you have time to now and meet new peoples After you grow above ~200 members like in life the users will make little groups.

I think a small community with active members works best, not too small but not too big either. Just a nice group of people who are willing to help eachother out to get better at what they do

I don't like big communitys. This is why I only register me on the shop sites and buy things and don't look in there boards. To many people. It's not familar, you can't know all about everyone there, it's hard to find "friends". OK, you get sometimes a lot of information, but I like much more little boards without 1.000 and more people. Often you see 5.000 Members and really writing? 20 is most much....
And I'm no one who visit every day 20 other sites...

Me neither, the big sites it gets to un personal where people rushing to give a comment and not look good, a few exceptions of course

There is nothing wrong with a big community. If there are 1000 members  there will be groups yes, but groups with people with the same interest or who are on the same level of quality.
I always think that people who are afraid of big community’s are actually afraid that their work is not good enough.  A wrong statement I think, because we are also member of facilities like this to learn from others.

My early works werent that good either, it's due to a big community that don't excist anymore where they gave me all the tips wich i took on with both hands. Of course i was a bit scared in the beginning when i saw all the good works others did, but keep in mind they also were at a point once when they just started and their works weren't that good as they are when you see the good ones.

A good community, big or small, gives room for everybody. Simple as that. Redstar has a good point in his argument. :-))
Have a nice day:-)
